Filming Begins for Compelling Preaching Grant
On September 26, production began on the first round of pre-recorded lectures for the upcoming preaching workshop funded by the Lilly Endowment’s Compelling Preaching Grant. The seminary received the grant late last year and has built a comprehensive timeline to prepare the new preaching program for clergy in both the Eastern and Western Dioceses.
In August, a new studio space was created in the lower level of the theological center to record videos to support the program. Last week the videographer arrived on campus to record the first three videos. The recordings will be shared with the first group of six clergy, selected from the local NY/NJ/CT/MA/PA area, two mentors, and one workshop leader who will all attend the pilot preaching session on Friday, November 1, at St. Nersess Armenian Seminary.
“We have designed our workshops and seminars in such a way that will assist our pastors during their active ministries. For example, in addition to the theoretical and practical training, our pastors will have a fully prepared sermon ready to go for the Sunday after our pilot workshop!” shared Arpi Nakashian, Director, Lilly Endowment Compelling Preaching Grant. As we launch our first pilot event in the Fall 2024, we are concurrently working on various other aspects of the St. Nersess Preaching program funded by the Lilly Endowment’s Compelling Preaching Grant. This includes an upcoming microsite for the program, an Armenian preaching resource center (Karoz), and so much more… stay tuned!
